"I just got a reply from my Thursday email about the movie sequel possibility. Apparently, these studio snobs only look at DOMESTIC Box Office results. So apparently things are not looking good for a sequal. Despite the fact the film can probably make another 40 million or more in toy and DVD sales...
One more reason not to take any good idea out to Hollywood anymore.."

Nope. They want 100 million domestic box office.

It's also shown on [link] that TMNT is slipping to the number four slot which doesn't seem too bad but if Warner Brothers is expecting TMNT to hit one hundred million, it seems very unlikely. Also, there have been other reports that WB has just stopped the TMNT commercials all togeether after the movie was released in theaters. I don't know how accurate it is but I know that I haven't seen any more. It's almost as if WB was expecting TMNT to fail from the start and were never really 100% behind the property.

It's probably more an accounting issue than anything else. I don't know if they thought it could do 100 million - but that's the dollar point that makes a sequel fiscally feasible for their bean counters. They were willing to gamble that the movie would become a sleeper hit (like "300" has) - but they're not going to make the same gamble for a sequel. They need to know there's a huge audience for it, because if there's not, they'll move on to the next sleeper-hit gamble."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I'm sure people are waiting for the DVDs to come out to see the movie but WB isn't counting that in their figure to produce another sequel. So, if people want to see a sequel they actually have to go to the theaters because that's what WB is counting. Not toys, videogames, music CDs, Books etc. Hell, they're not even counting the international box office which just makes them look even more greedy. The bastards! It has to make 100 million in the US.
Maybe this is all too early to tell if TMNT will fail but it's a crying shame to see something I love crash and burn and I urge everyone to see the film in theaters as much as you can or as much as you're willing to stomach. I know that watching the same thing can get a bit boring but it's TMNT dammit so it's all good
Take care everyone and keep it green.

Well, I'm taking another group of friends to it hopefully this weekend or next, so maybe that'll do something, though this is making me feel like anything the loyal TMNT fans do won't matter to the WB money seekers

I'm begining to think you're right...WB wasn't behind it 100% and they don't care now..
